After a long association and a number of previous council aquatic work, Christchurch City Council selected Apollo Projects to build the new Taiora: QEII Recreation and Sport Centre.
For the newly completed QEII Recreation and Sports Centre, we created a full suite of signage, including large exterior illuminated lettering, exterior plinths, digitally printed wallpapers, 3D navigational icons and glazing manifestation. Using the newly designed CCC branding, we applied this to all areas of the complex to achieve a seamless consistency of brand. Careful attention was made to ensure colour consistency across a variety of medias used. Visitors to the centre can easily navigate around the complex using the carefully placed signage.
The facility boasts a lazy river, a splashpad and adjoined toddler’s pool, a large aqua dunker which is always a hit amongst swimmers regardless of age. A ‘learn to swim’ pool, a 25x25m 10-lane pool, a spa, steam room and sauna, café, small retail area and birthday party room. The comprehensive fitness centre features a large weights area, fitness studio and spin room.
It’s great to see such a place thriving in our community. So much to see – so much to do!
