Our design instructions were a photocopy instruction from the development contract managers that the sign be a neon decorated Gibson E55 guitar. We negotiated the sign permit and began constructing the smallest fabricated guitar sign on any Hard Rock Café. We sourced the image, prepared cutting profiles machined and fully welded the aluminium guitar, fabricated all the guitars componentry (including 3-D gold anodised ‘Gibson”) and fitted it to a structure that looks to be part of the building. The guitar body is powder coated. The channel letters are welded directly to the guitar face giving it strength and the centre disc is removable for access to the neon electrics. The installation involved cherry pickers, vehicle and foot traffic management in a busy Queenstown location.
